I created Rosepetalsandfaith with the intent of helping others in their walk with the Lord. But while I may be trying my best to provide advice, I'm also learning as well. I fail on many occasions. I'm human. Like Paul stated in the Bible, my spirit is wiling, but my flesh is weak. I'll never be enough on my own, but Jesus can make me whole. And I realized something the other day...my relationship with God is mine. Not my mother's. Not my father's. Not my sister's. Not my grandparents'. It's mine. And it's what I make out of it. I can sit on potential faith and be slothful in my Christian walk, or I can get up and follow God's will for my life. There is purpose and fulfillment in the latter. And if I want to get anywhere in life, I need to know my Savior more and more each day. So, this morning I grabbed my journal and began to write. For me, when I put thoughts down on paper, it starts to make sense. I'm quite the visual person and I love to make lists in journals that inspire me to do better. Now, I want to share my thoughts with you, because I believe that we as Christians are to help each other out. I have this deep desire to know Jesus better. And by the word know, I mean know in a personal way. In a way that only the Holy Spirit can let me in on. Maybe you do too. I think that's a superb goal to strive for. And while it's impossible to reach perfection in this corruptible body, striving to live like Jesus is wonderful. So, here were my thoughts that I scribbled down in my journal early this morning. I pray that maybe this is an encouragement to you to keep on keeping on, because we're all on this journey to serve One Master together as Christians. We all need spiritual nourishment, especially in the world we live in today. My thoughts and prayers are with you! Scroll down for more! Keep Smiling, rosepetalsandfaith <3 1. Read & Study His WordWhile this point may be more obvious, it's incredibly important. Just like a fiction book on the shelf, you'll never know about the heroic main character unless you pick it up and indulge in the plot. Same goes for the Word of God. Only when you pick it up and truly study is when you realize how alive it actually is. It's when you realize that Jesus is more than a fictional character. He's the Son of God, waiting for you to learn more about Him in this Love Letter directly sent from God to you. I believe I'm going to start studying the four Gospels--Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John--to help me delve into the life of Jesus! 2. Pray About Everything & Pray ConstantlyPrayer is our way of communication to God through Jesus Christ. I don't know about you, but I've ran into some pretty amazing prayer warriors in my life. It's like these people know God in the intimate way that I was talking about earlier. That's something worth striving for. And I think it takes the realization that you're nothing and God is everything. Without God, we're merely dust floating through air...our lives are meaningless. I've felt lacking in my prayer life recently and I have no excuse. But as I sat in my desk chair this morning, I pondered on this thought: I'll never get anywhere if I don't try harder. And that's enough motivation for me to understand that I am the person that must be willing. God's already waiting to talk with me because He desires a personal relationship with me. 3. Study Jesus's Life, How He Behaved, Take Notes on Him, Then Apply It to Your LifeAs I stated above in point number one, I really want to begin studying in-depth the life of Jesus in the four Gospels. I got this idea to start a character profile like when an author starts writing a book. So, obviously the "character" would be Jesus and I'll take note of how He behaved, how He reacted to certain situations, just thoroughly study about Jesus for as long as the Holy Spirit leads me. Then, I'll take those notes and start prayerfully applying them to my life! If you want to join me in this neat idea, drop a comment below and let me know! It'll be like studying together! Maybe even send me an Instagram message if you'd like more of these kind of ideas! 4. Don't Play With Sin, Drop It Altogether, & Think of EternityMaybe there's that one temptation you deal with that's a struggle. I believe we all have one and maybe more than one. Satan knows our weaknesses and he likes to tempt us in those areas where he knows we'll trip up. But here's the thing: satan knows of his defeat and he knows of his final destination, so he's trying to bring as many people with him as he can. Next time you're tempted, think of it that way and I will too. Sin separates you from knowing Jesus better. The Bible says that there is pleasure in sin for a season, but there' s joy everlasting in the palm of God's hand. 5. Let the Holy Spirit Work In You, So You Can Grow In Christ JesusHow many times have we stepped out of line of the Holy Spirit? Lots. I have anyway. It's not fun. You know you've done wrong, and you kinda feel like shrinking away and hiding. Maybe it's time for us to learn from our mistakes, follow the Holy Spirit when He calls, and let Him lead us. Too many times pride gets in the way and we think we can do it all on our own. Wrong. We need Jesus. And when we're following the Holy Spirit, we're able to grow in Christ Jesus with a clear conscious. I don't normally do this in blogposts, but today it feels necessary... My Prayer:Dear Heavenly Father, I'm so thankful for this wonderful thought that You provided me with this morning. Sometimes I feel like the smallest person in the world, but then I realize that you care for each human equally. I pray You'll take away the sin and shame, and throw it as far as the east is to the west. That's hard for me to comprehend, but You're capable of so much more than I am. Help me, and all of the people reading this post, to draw closer to You and Your Son, to follow the Holy Spirit, and to live like Jesus. We'll always be needing more of You and less of us. Help us to push our flesh to the side, and dwell on all Godly things. Make us more like Your Son. In Jesus's name I pray. Amen. You May Also Enjoy:
