You know that feeling...the feeling that you get when your parents wrap their arms around you...They tell you they love you, and that they would go to the moon and back for you? The feeling of warmth and security. The feeling of sheer, raw love.
Jesus has that same love for you and I, but His love for us is even more than that of a parent's love...He has that love for everyone on this entire earth. We have done nothing to deserve His love. People have mocked Him. Betrayed Him. Denied Him. Made Him a laughingstock. And still today, these things go on. We as a people have not given Him the place in our hearts that so rightly, He deserves.
Christ not only died for us; He was tortured, beaten, bruised, and mocked for all of us. He could have very well called ten thousand Angels to get Him off of the cross...but He didn't. He loved us so much to go all the way for the entire world. He carried the weight of the world on His shoulders. That's Love.
Luke 23:34 KJV says, "Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots."
Jesus asked God to forgive the same ones who crucified Him. I don't know about you, but me being so human-like, I don't think I could take it. I know I couldn't. It took a man named Jesus.
Luke 22:50-51 KJV
"And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him."
Peter was upset with the servants taking away Jesus. He was so angry that He cut off one of the servant's right ear. But Jesus, healed the man's ear and put it back on. The same man who was about to carry Him away to be lead to Jesus' death. He healed, cared and loved Him. He showed compassion.
It took love. Real love. I can't even begin to imagine the hurt, and the pain He took for you and I. He took our places...We should've been on those crosses. We should've been beaten and spat upon. We should've been mocked and a crown of thorns should have been placed on our heads...but He loved us so much that He took our place. He did it so that I wouldn't have to. He did it so that I could have life eternal.
As Easter approaches, and as today is Good Friday, I want you to know that Jesus Christ died for you, arose, and ascended into Heaven. He's now oh so ALIVE! And He loves you! He offers an escape route from an awful place called hell. He offers peace and life eternal. All you have to do is believe, call on Him, and repent. Change your heart and change your life. God can do that if you allow Him and accept Him into your heart.
I'll forever be thankful for His true love on a sinner like me...a sinner like the world...and a sinner like you.
(Ps. Happy Good Friday and Easter!)
