I don't know what it is that you're personally battling. Maybe it's an addiction, lack of faith in God, the desire for a husband, for a child, fear of COVID-19, complacency, or maybe it's something else. We're all "going through" something, but we don't have to go at it alone. Matter of fact, we can hand the battle completely over to the Lord and trust His plans, because He's already won. Satan is good at distracting you with what will make you feel weak and helpless. He likes to attack your weak spots, the vulnerable areas in your life. If you give him an inch, you'll soon find yourself doubting the Father and fearing more than you are praying. Today I want to share with you three Truths about prayer, because I truly believe it is a reminder that we need right now. 1. Nothing is too hard or too complicated for God."But God can't protect me from the coronavirus. It's everywhere!" "But God can't forgive me of this sin." "But God can't heal me of this disease." "But doctors are saying that I won't be able to bear a child." Sound familiar? I'm sure we have all come up with excuses just like these some time or another. Remember when Moses told God that he wasn't a good speaker, so God sent Aaron with Moses to speak for him? God provides where there doesn't seem to be a way. Let's use another example: Hannah, the wife of Elkanah from the Old Testament. One of her heart's biggest desires was to have a child. The biggest obstacle? She was barren. (1 Samuel 1:5.) But Hannah prayed continually. Her prayers were sincere, humble, and full of tears. She believed that God was bigger than her problem. And guess what? God heard her. He honored her humility. She bore Samuel, a baby who would grow to do many things for the Lord. We doubt the Cross of Christ when we say God can't do something. You see, God makes all things possible. (Matthew 19:26.) Who are we to doubt His Words--the only words that never change? You might not receive exactly what you prayed for, but you'll always receive God's best. That's more than enough. Nothing is too hard or too complicated for God. Prayer works. There is power in prayer. 2. God promises to answer our humble and sincere prayers."He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. (Psalm 91:15.) Sincerity and humility come when you realize your place, and you honor God's place. When you acknowledge that the Lord is in control and deserves all praise, the windows of Heaven swing wide open and you can finally see. When you come to God with your whole heart, pouring out your requests, you can rest assured that true, sincere prayers are heard and answered. God's answers are always either: Yes or No, I have something better in mind. And we're to respond with: Amen, I trust You, Lord. He is all-powerful and all-knowing, friend. He wants His best for you, and that requires you relinquishing the tight grip on your life and fully relying on God. Prayer works. There is power in prayer. 3. It is straight communication to the Ruler of All.Jesus demonstrated this Himself when He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.: "And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation." -Luke 22:44. We don't have to wait for the phone to dial. We don't have to rely on someone else. Prayer is straight communication to and with the Father. The Father Who created the stars, the moon, etched the mountains, carved the deep seas, and created you! He's the Ruler of All, the Powerful One. Meaning this: There is no one higher than Him. No one who will listen more than Him. No one who has more power than Him. Prayer works. There is power in prayer. So, friend, whatever it is that you can't seem to let go of, I want to encourage you to trust God. Matthew 11 28-30 says, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Uncurl those fingers around your problems. God can handle this. There is so much power in prayer. Find it on your knees. Listen to this song! |
