Imagine trying out for the lead role as Sandy or Danny in a play such as Grease, but instead you’re cast as some person who walks through the background once or twice…and then you’re done. Your first instinct is to be upset, beat down, or disappointed. All that you thought you were capable of…it sort of vanishes, and it leaves your confidence buried six feet under. It leaves you thinking…what if I’m not as good as the person standing beside of me? I’m here to tell you that that isn’t true. The role that you play…it is important.
If you’re cast as someone who walks through a play once, then do it with all that you’ve got! If you’re provided with a job at a restaurant, smile, and make someone’s day! If you’re lead to be a minister or to testify in a church, give it everything. Put your heart and soul out there, and I guarantee it will show how dedicated you are to something. Someone will notice. And it will pay off. You’ll get to where you’re supposed to be, in time. An artist/musician/dancer doesn’t just get famous overnight…I don’t care what anyone says, it takes time. It takes many falls and then having enough of courage to get back up and seal the rips. It takes dedication to succeed. It takes someone to notice all your hard work, to boost your confidence. When they give you a part in a play, a chance on the team, a spot in the dance…whatever it may be, it means that they find worth and value in your work. You’re crucial to the team, so to speak. Don’t leave them hanging if you’re upset about being in the back row…then not giving it your one hundred percent. Not a single person made it out on the field or in the front, without years of practice and hard work. God puts you where He thinks that you should be for a purpose…He has a plan! Others can do things that you can’t, but you can also do things that others cannot. You see…to me church wouldn’t be church without the singing, the testifying, the teaching and preaching. It takes each individual to make a service possible. To me if we didn’t have singers in our church. It would be quiet and hollow. If we didn’t have a preacher, our spiritual bodies wouldn’t get fed. If we didn’t have teachers willing to teach, we would never learn. Our church would never grow. It takes your responsibility- your role -to make up the church as a whole. Like making a cake…you need EVERY SINGLE and DIFFERENT ingredient. You are necessary to the church. Whatever your duty is…it’s important and is needed. Those ingredients all mix together to make one Church. Whatever you might be able to do, might be someone else’s weakness. You’re given a talent/job for a purpose. Life has a funny way of working itself out. And if it’s a part of God’s plan, it will work out…one day, you will be up front, you will be the lead. Give it time and prayer…and all your strength. So, for now, take that spot in the back with gratitude…you’re able to do something. When you’re sitting on the sidelines…you make up a part of this team. When you’re on the mission field all alone…God called youbecause He knew that you could do this. God will give you opportunities…it’s up to YOU and what you make of them.
