So, recently, I've had the most awesome privilege of getting to interview Joseph O'Brien. If you have not heard of him, he's an insanely talented Christian singer/songwriter that starred on the televised American talent show competition, America's Got Talent. As I watched his behind the scenes, lives, and posts on social media, I couldn’t help but admire his bold faith in the Lord. It touches my heart that there are still people serving God in amazing ways. You can imagine how thrilled I was when I heard back from him after requesting if he wanted to do an interview with Rosepetalsandfaith. I figured I would do a fun interview full of faith questions, as well as some music related ones, and really just some random ones. Let's get into it!! Q: What’s your favorite Bible verse? Why? Romans 8:28-30. I love it because God is letting us know that He is ultimately in control, and that each day when we follow Christ, we can trust that he is conforming us to the image of our Savior. It's a beautiful truth that all of us should be overwhelmed by. Q: If you could say one thing to your younger self, what would it be? TRUST GOD. I've always been concerned with opening doors myself, but again... God is in control and we have responsibilities, but if things don't go the way we want them to, we need to see that God has a plan better than anything we could've come up with ourselves. Q: What do you want people to learn about God when they look at you? Interesting question... hm. I'm not sure how to answer this one. Everything they need to learn is in Scripture haha! But if someone looks at me, hopefully they're able to see that God strengthens people to hold fast to their convictions without swaying. Q: How do you stay focused on Jesus in a world full of distractions? This is hard, because I struggle with this. Godly men have always said that waking up and reading God's Word is the best thing to get your heart and mind focused on Jesus for the day. Q: What’s one thing you want to ask when you get to heaven? Whoa. Haha... When did the Holy Spirit enter into my life? I can't recall the day of my salvation haha. Q: A piece of advice to younger Christians. Be bold. It's hard to be bold in this day and age, but don't be ashamed of Christ and don't fear speaking His name. And if you do fear, then ask God for strength and step out of your comfort zone in faith. "Be bold...don't be ashamed of Christ and don't fear speaking His name." Q: When you feel discouraged, what’s one thing you’ll do to lift your spirits up? Listen to good Christian music. Q: Encouragement for teens (really anyone) who feel God calling them into a certain field. God gives us all specific gifts, so steward your gifting, and use it for His glory! Q: Beliefs? Disbeliefs? I believe in what the Bible teaches. I don't believe in Santa Claus. Q: What’s one thing you would tell an unbeliever wrestling with whether they should trust and believe in God or not? Fwoo. That's a loaded question. I would say that true satisfaction comes in Christ alone. Nothing in the world will satisfy, so lean on Christ, because not only will He save you from God's wrath one day, but your life here on earth will be more joyful if you just confess Jesus as Lord and repent of your sin. "Your life here on earth will be more joyful if you just confess Jesus as Lord and repent of your sin." Q: Favorite person in the Bible? Why? Besides Jesus haha, I really enjoy reading about Joseph - The earthly father of Jesus. He is an underrated character in the Bible. What a man of integrity, humility, and care. I think the movie The Nativity Story really puts Joseph into perspective. Q: What was it like being on AGT? It was crazy! I learned so much about the TV industry and I met so many cool people! Overall a truly awesome experience. Q: Are you wanting to release more along the lines of Christian/Contemporary music or Pop? Or both? Christian Contemporary Music for sure. That's definitely what God has called me to do! Q: Favorite Christian artists? For King and Country, Hillsong United, Francesca Battistelli, TobyMac, Capital Kings - those are just a few of many. Q: Favorite song? It changes, but right now it is 8 Letters by Why Don't We. Q: 3 things you can't live without? Apart from spiritual things and on a shallow note haha - my phone, my car, and fortnite. Q: Favorite TV show? SpongeBob SquarePants Q: Favorite Holiday? CHRISTMAS! Q: Favorite animal? Do you have any? Dog or Dolphin. I have two dogs, two cats, and two goats. Q: Are you planning on releasing music anytime soon? Oh yeah. Be ready. |
