You see those smiles? The smiles of little kids. The joy that they find in the tiny things. How they always manage to look on the bright side. How they fully put their trust in something, and depend on it no matter what...We Christians need to be exactly like that...Like a child.
Matthew 18:2-4 says, "And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven." When Jesus said this, He didn't mean that you literally had to become a child again to go to Heaven. As a human, that's not physically possible. Allow me to explain just what He meant... As a child, we automatically put our entire trust in our mothers and fathers. We clung to them with all of our might. Whatever they said, we believed it. That's why it was so easy to believe in Jesus and all of the stories in the Bible. When you get older, that childlike vision can dim if you're not careful, you can begin to look at others and your surroundings. The world. Satan could begin to tempt you, he could take your eyes and try to distract you with the "pleasures" of the world. But Hebrews 11:25 says, "Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season..." Sin only lasts for but a season. That's why we need to convert from our ways, fully put our faith in God, and humble ourselves down like a child and our reward will be Heaven with our amazing Savior. The smallest things can make a kid happy. You give them a piece of candy and they'll jump up and down like you had just handed an adult a brand new, cherry red Ferrari. My little cousin (pictured at top of page, on left) and her mom had come in for a visit recently. The weather had been amazing, so my sister (pictured at top of page, on right) and I took her down to the swing set to play. While I pushed her on the swing, we all began to sing Jesus Loves Me, the song The B-I-B-L-E, you know...all of the fun Veggietales songs. Her occasional giggles and her constant smile got me to thinking...if a child can be this happy about Jesus, why can't an adult be that way? Why can't we be that way? Why can't we have the faith of a child?! There's NO excuse. WE CAN! My cousin's joy and happiness touched me. It helped me realize how humble a child really is. How ecstatic a person can get for Jesus! We can be just that way, if we humble ourselves down as a child does. We can feel that bubbly feeling of joy inside, if only we come to God as a young kid would...humbly and straight forward. When my cousin waited at the top of the slide...she put all of her faith and trust in the fact that I would be at the bottom, waiting to pick her up and to hold her in safe, secure arms. We need to be just that way when it comes to Christ. We have to have the faith that He's going to work everything out. We need to humble down and give God our all, put it all in His hands. And have faith believing that He'll do so...Like a child. Keep Smiling, rosepetalsandfaith <3 (Thank you little Ellie for inspiring this blogpost! Love you bunches. <3 )
