I feel like this question is such an underrated one. It’s a question that not many of us even think twice about. Many just simply do not care, but it’s such an important question. After you pass- because it is appointed unto men once to die (Hebrews 9:27)- what kind of a testimony will you leave behind?
I feel like everyone has experienced the loss of someone close to them. Even after they pass, you remember them for certain things. There’s things that just stick out for a person. As an example, my great grandfather…I remember him going to church with my great grandma, testifying, singing. When I used to visit, he would always sneak me a cookie from the cookie jar. I recall him working so hard in the summer/fall time in his big garden. He was such a strong, hardworking man, and when he was diagnosed with cancer, he was still strong…strong in the Lord. He knew that if he died, everything was going to be okay, because he had the Lord on his side. He left a testimony, and to this day he still touches my heart, he was such a strong, wise person who followed God. Everyone leaves a testimony behind…but the real question is, what kind of a testimony will you leave? Will you be remembered for drugs, or alcohol, or an uncontrollable filthy mouth? Will you be remembered as the rich man who never helped someone out along the way? Will you be remembered for being lazy, and sitting on the couch all day? I don’t know about you, but I, myself, want to be remembered for being different…for standing out. Don’t misunderstand me, I do not want the glory, nor the recognition…but I would rather like to think that someone saw Christ through me and my actions. Watch your actions. Watch what you do or say to someone, because it can affect that person just as much as it can affect you. You don’t want someone forever remembering you for cussing them out, or never lifting a finger for you. The next time someone asks for help, lend them that helping hand. Be a friend. A light. A good neighbor. Live for Christ, and He will bless. Your actions all add up to be your life, your story…I don’t think anyone wants a sad and regretful story. After all, we only get one life, and we only get one chance at our story. On everyone’s gravestone, there’s a dash mark. That dash mark gets overlooked just like this question does. It represents a life, and the way that someone lived it. Leave behind a legacy, something powerful and positive. Something that someone else will be eager to share with others. Live your life according to that dash that you will have some day, you want to be proud and grateful of your accomplishments…not ashamed. You want your dash mark to be something that someone can look at and smile at, because they know that you lived your life to the fullest. I know this wasn’t as long as some of my past advice posts have been, but this is something everyone needs to read and think about. There are people always watching you, waiting for you to make the wrong move; but with God, He will not steer you wrong. We’re human, we’re prone to make mistakes, but don’t make the same mistakes over and over again. Learn from them, and overcome them. Don’t make your time all about the material things of this world, invest it in the people and living life to the fullest by investing your life in Jesus Christ. That my friend, that will leave a testimony and a half. Keep Smiling, rosepetalsandfaith <3
