It's so easy to go with the flow isn't it? To choose to listen in on the gossip instead of walk away. To sit back and watch someone struggle instead of going out of our way to help them. To not say anything when, in fact, we should be standing up for our faith. To dress like the world instead of dressing appropriately. To break a covenant just because it's the "easy way out." To quit instead of pressing on. It's so easy, isn't it? But yet, deep down, it's so wrong. Deep down, you and I both know the Biblical Truth. We know that God calls us to be set apart and if we're acting like the world, do we really look like Jesus? I think not. I was reading Romans 12 the other morning during my quiet time and I couldn't help but thank God for the commands He gives us to follow. You're probably thinking: Katlyn, why in the world would you be thankful for commands to follow? Wanna know why? Because He only wants good for us, and He knows that by me being obedient to Him, I'll live a life of joy and freedom. I'll thrive. In Romans 12, He tells of things to do and things not to do. He tells us to choose kindness, to serve Him, to always be rejoicing and praying, and to meet others right where they're at. So that's the simple thing I want to encourage you with today, this is your reminder...these are all characteristics of our Heavenly Father and you and I should be practicing them and putting the flesh under subjection. "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." |
