"And all this assembly shall know the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands." -1 Samuel 17:47 The background behind this scripture quotation is this: A little shepherd boy, David, is preparing to battle it out with a Philistine giant, Goliath. Over nine-feet-tall, Goliath probably towered over a small Israelite such as David. With a sling and five stones in his hand, Goliath mocked David, for David didn't have armor and "battling gear" as Goliath did. While David's fate probably stood no chance in the Philistine's eyes, they forgot the One Thing David possessed on his side that no one else did...the One True God. David replied to Goliath's trash-talk with five earth-shattering words, "the battle is the LORD'S." At those words, I believe Goliath began quaking in his shoes because the righteous God of Israel is to be respectfully feared. Then, by God's merciful hand, David defeated Goliath. Have you ever felt like the "giants" in your life are just towering over you? Like they could swallow you up in an instant? Maybe it's a sickness, the death of a loved one, a huge exam, a life-threatening diagnoses...the possibilities are endless. While I don't know what sticky situation you're currently in, I do understand that we all face giants. With the giant hovering over you, you probably start watching him intently, sweat pouring from your brow. How am I ever going to face this? You may question. Your problem seems larger than life, like there's no way you can physically do anything else. It's out of your hands. Then, what should I do? Here's the thing, don't be forgetful like everyone else. Don't take your faith for granted, because it came with a price that Jesus had to pay. You mustn't be forgetful of the One True God who is on your side. He's the one who can bring victory to overcome the hardest battle you've ever faced in life. Even if your situation seems daunting and hopeless, remember the same God David trusted in. Have faith! This God is larger than your giant. He's larger than you. He's larger than life. And He's larger than the world and anything it may throw at you. Keep Smiling, rosepetalsandfaith <3 (PSSSSTTTT!
